Whenever You Get Into an Auto Accident, We Should Check You Out

Posted on 6/10/2019 by Tessa Smith-Greisch
Whenever You Get Into an Auto Accident, We Should Check You OutWhen you get into an auto accident, there are many things that will start to race through your head. First and foremost is if anyone, including yourself suffered any injuries that need immediate medical help. After that people start to think about what will happen to their car, their insurance and how they will manage the next few days dealing with all of the messes an accident creates.

They do not realize that they need to continue to think about their health. Some injuries that occur during an accident do not show up right away. That is why we recommend anyone who has been in an auto accident come in to see us to get checked out.

Dental Damage from an Accident

There are several ways your oral health can suffer damage in an auto accident. The most obvious way is through some type of trauma. The most common dental injuries from an auto accident are damage to the teeth. Fractured teeth or teeth completely knocked out are two of the types of injuries we can help with after an auto accident. Some teeth can get knocked loose if they are not knocked out completely.

Injuries that result from trauma are often obvious to see. The tooth is gone and there are other problems such as bleeding or pain. It is obvious to people that suffer these types of injuries that they need help from our office to restore their oral health.

Unseen Problems
There are other problems that are not as obvious as trauma after an auto accident. It is possible to fracture the jaw in an auto accident without realizing it. The fracture is not always big and the symptoms mare minor. An auto accident can also lead to problems with TMJ. This condition affects the way the jaw works.

The best way to find out if there is any unseen damage after an auto accident is by visiting our office. We can examine and look for any of the unseen problems that can occur. For more information about this or any other oral health issue, contact our office to schedule an appointment.
