To maintain this type of good oral health, there are times that you will be required to undergo an oral surgery such as tooth extraction, root canal, and wisdom tooth removal.

The actual oral surgery usually does not hurt because of sedation options such as anesthesia. In fact, it is the recovery that can cause discomfort because of the swelling, bleeding, and pain.

No worries, because there are a lot of ways you can speed up your recovery such as painkillers and some antibiotics. In actuality, water alone can help you have a speedy recovery.

You know that drinking water maintains the balance of fluids in your body, which includes increased creation of saliva that is vital in a post-surgery recovery.

Aside from drinking pure water, there are other ways on how water can speed up your oral surgery recovery.

Salt Water

This is the most common tip that can help you heal faster after the oral surgery. All you need to do is mix one teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water.

After every meal and snack or at least four times per day, you should rinse your mouth with salt water to remove any bit of food, especially in the affected area. That way, your mouth will be clean and will help to greatly minimize the risk of further infections.

Ice Cold Water and Coconut Water

Aside from applying ice packs on your face and cheeks after the surgery, you should also drink ice cold water. Ice does not just reduce swelling, but the coldness is also a great pain reliever, numbing the area of your mouth that is affected.

Drinking ice cold coconut water is another way of speeding up your oral surgery recovery. After the oral surgery, we will not allow you to eat solid foods and this can affect your blood chemistry.

Coconut water is rich in electrolytes that are vital in healing and keeping your blood sugar stable. More than that, coconut water is known in stabilizing the blood chemistry.
